Abstract


Need  for teak wood as a trade commodity is still  demand in  market as well as raw material for wood based industries,  considering  teak  is a type of wood that has special chararateristics for its perfomance, strengh and  durability  as well as ease in process .  Due to the long harvest cyle (60 to 80 years), it is necessary to develop  teak tree  which could harvest in shorter rotation with faster growth in height and diameter. By using superior clone material as a product of development of the result of breeding research, Perhutani has obtained such a superior teak which called Jati Plus Perhutani (JPP).  JPP is developed through two methods of breeding namely vegetative breeding (tissue culture, shoot cuttings, etc.) and generative (seeds from clonal seed gardens) Puslitbang Perhutani, (2007).
